IMCS at the Chemnitz Finite Element Symposium 2023 on tour
18 September 2023
Last week, the IMCS participated in the 36th edition of the Chemnitz Finite Element Symposium, which was held this year on tour in Leibnitz, Styria. The symposium provided an excellent platform for numerous scientific discussions around the finite element method as well as other computer-based methods for solving partial differential equations. The conference hotel at Schloss Seggau was a perfect venue for the conference and invited to get into conversation with all the other participants while enjoying a cozy Austrian flair and excellent catering.
IMCS members Thomas Apel, Max Firmbach and Philipp Zilk contributed talks on the topics 'Non-coercive boundary value problems', 'Physics-based block preconditioning for mixed dimensional beam/solid coupling' and 'Identifying cracks in membranes via their eigenfrequencies - A theoretical and practical approach'. Furthermore, Thomas Apel in his role as a member of the Scientific Committee contributed to the successful running of the conference.
Besides the scientific part, there were also some social activities, among others a hike in the vineyards of Styria, where the above picture was taken.
We would like to thank the organizers of the conference and are already looking forward to the next edition.
