X International Conference on Coupled Problems in Science and Engineering

9 Juni 2023

Our colleagues Max Firmbach and Dr.-Ing. Matthias Mayr attended the "Xth International Conference on Coupled Problems in Science and Engineering", which was held in Chania/Crete (Greece) on June 5-7, 2023 and have presented research findings from the IMCS on scalable, linear solvers and mixed-dimensional modelling between fluids and beams.

The IMCS contributed to the conference on different levels:
  • Dr.-Ing. Matthias Mayr co-organized the minisymposium “Iterative methods and block preconditioning for challenging multiphysics systems” (together with John Shadid, Haim Whisman and Suvranu De), which attracted seven interesting presentations from researchers across the globe.
  • In his presentation “Multigrid preconditioning for mixed-dimensional beam/solid coupling”, Max Firmbach detailed the design of a multi-level algebraic multigrid block preconditioner designed for fiber/solid interaction simulations with a particular focus on parallel scalability.
  • The work by Nora Hagmeyer on "Two-way coupling in mixed-dimensional fluid/beam interaction” was presented by Dr.-Ing. Matthias Mayr in the minisymposium on “Quasi-Newton methods for fluid/structure interaction”.

We are looking forward to the next edition of the Coupled Problems conference series to be held in Sardinia, Italy in 2025!
