European Young Investigator Award for Prof. Alexander Popp

On June 11, 2018, Prof. Alexander Popp was awarded the O.C. Zienkiewicz Award of the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS) at the opening ceremony of the ECCM-ECFD Conference 2018 in Glasgow (Scotland). The O.C. Zienkiewicz Award is the highest and most prestigious award of ECCOMAS for young scientists throughout Europe, which is awarded every two years to an outstanding scientist under 40 in the field of computational engineering sciences. In the laudation, the international jury led by ECCOMAS President Professor Michal Kleiber emphasized Prof. Popp's innovative and internationally acclaimed research work at the interface between applied mathematics, high-performance computing (HPC) and mechanics - with applications for new materials and production processes as well as in many other fields of engineering sciences and even biomedical engineering.
