IMCS at the GACM Colloquium 2023
18 September 2023
The 10th GACM colloquium on Computational Mechanics for Young Scientists from Academia and Industry in Vienna gathered multiple researches to present and discuss their recent research activities in the field of numerical modeling in engineering and science. The attending members of IMCS contributed three presentations to mini-symposiums, as well as two plenary lectures:
- Scalability of nonlinear problems in contact mechanics and mixed-dimensional coupling – from computational strategies to multigrid solvers (A. Popp, plenary lecture)
- Exploring biomechanical models with global sensitivity analysis (S. Brandstaeter, B. Wirthl, J. Nitzler, W. A. Wall)
- Mixed-dimensional finite element formulations for beam-to-solid interaction (I. Steinbrecher, plenary lecture)
- Hybrid digital twin: combining physics-based modeling with data-driven predictions for critical infrastructure (B. Maradni, M. von Danwitz, T. Sahin, A. Popp)
- Investigation of network architecture and optimizer parameters for physics-informed neural networks (T. Sahin, M. von Danwitz, A. Popp)
Along with the presentations and the discussions, the conference also included a tour around downtown Vienna, a visit to the Nature History Museum of Vienna, and a wonderful dinner at the city hall.
Many thanks to the local organizers and the GACM committee for organizing the colloquium, and for the Technical University of Vienna for hosting the event.
