airspace analysis
1 March 2022
The structure of current airspaces dictates the operations to be carried out within them. Especially against the background of the introduction of free-route concepts, the extent to which inflexible airspace concepts are still capable of efficiently managing air traffic must be critically questioned. For the implementation of dynamic sectorization, the existing key figures for efficiency assessment must be challenged and adapted. Using actual traffic data, current key figures must be applied, and identified deficits addressed by newly developed key figures. These indicators can relate to many dimensions, e.g. space, time, ecology, or economy.
