Participation of IMCS&Co in the Chemnitz Finite Elements Symposium 2024
12 September 2024
The IMCS took part in the 37th edition of the Chemnitz Finite Element Symposium, which was held in Chemnitz this year for the first time in three years. The symposium provided an excellent platform for numerous scientific discussions on the finite element method and other computer-aided methods for solving partial differential equations. The conference hotel at the Chemnitz castle park was the perfect venue for the conference and the cozy Saxonian flair and excellent catering invited the participants to get into conversation with each other.
IMCS members Thomas Apel, Katharina Lorenz und Philipp Zilk took part in the successful conference program in various ways. Katharina Lorenz presented a poster on 'Stokes equation with non smooth boundary data' and Philipp Zilk gave a talk entitled 'Local isogeometric mesh refinement in polar-type domains with corners'. Thomas Apel also contributed to the success of the conference in his role as Chair and member of the Scientific Committee. Marco Mattuschka and Johannes Pfefferer, two other UniBw residents from the IMCS environment, were also on board. The photo shows the participating delegation in front of the famous Karl Marx head, affectionately known as 'Nüschel' by the local Chemitzers.
We would like to thank the organizers of the conference and are already looking forward to the next edition.
