IMCS takes part in the 10th edition of CMAM conference in Bonn

Last week, the IMCS took part in the 10th edition of the International Conference on Computational Methods in Applied Mathematics (CMAM-10), which was held in Bonn this year. The conference provided an excellent platform for numerous scientific discussions on the numerical analysis of finite element methods and other computer-aided methods for solving partial differential equations. The University Club on the banks of the Rhine in Bonn was the perfect venue for the conference and provided excellent catering and an opportunity to talk to all the other participants. Philipp Zilk contributed a lecture on 'Approximation of Laplace eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of domains with corners'.

We would like to thank the organizers of the conference and are already looking forward to the next edition.

Professor Thomas Apel was a guest at our sister university, Helmut Schmidt University Hamburg, on May 28 and 29, 2024, to discuss issues relating to research, teaching and self-administration with Professors Markus Bause and Sven Knoth and their staff.

IMCS says goodbye to Venant Habiyambere

At the end of this month, the IMCS is saying goodbye to its longest-serving employee Venant Habiyambere. After 35 years (!) at the UniBw, the technical employee is taking his well-deserved retirement. To mark the occasion, Venant hosted a small retirement party at the institute yesterday with home-made African specialties.
