Research Days 2024 in Herrsching am Ammersee

On November 26 and 27, the research group "Computational Simulation," led by Prof. Popp, held its annual Research Days in Herrsching am Ammersee. This year’s theme, “Open Science,” was reflected in various lectures and workshops.

In addition to topics such as the FAIR principles, Open Access Publishing, and Open Data, a lecture on the science behind coffee preparation garnered significant interest among participants. Workshops focused on practical subjects, including the visualization of research results.

The shared evening provided an opportunity for informal discussions and personal exchanges within the team. The Research Days not only supported professional development but also facilitated the planning of future projects.

IMCS visit and colloquium lecture by Serge Nicaise

On December 05, 2024, Prof. Dr. Serge Nicaise gave a lecture on “A posteriori goal-oriented error estimators based on equilbrated flux and potential reconstructions” as part of the Applied Mathematics Colloquium. The renowned mathematician was previously a guest at our institute for a week.

IMCS Christmas party with curling event

The traditional IMCS Christmas party took place on Wednesday, 4 December 2024. This year's venue was the beautifully furnished Park-Café München with its curling rinks not far from the old botanical garden.
