IMCS Researchers Visit Prague and Pilsen

29 Juli 2024

Sebastian Brandstäter and Moritz Frey visited Prague and Pilsen last week, marking a significant step towards enhancing international collaborations within the COMET project.

The visit began on July 25 in Prague, where they met Prof. Ondrej Jirousek, Radim Dvorak and their colleagues from the Faculty of Transportation Sciences of the Czech Technical University in Prague. The researchers toured the Lab of Fast Dynamics, exploring advanced equipment like Split Hopkinson Pressure Bars (SHPB) and Additive manufacturing facilities. After an insightful tour, they visited Dr. Radek Kolman at the Institute of Thermomechanics of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The day concluded with the opportunity to explore the beautiful city of Prague.

On July 26, they traveled to Pilsen to visit Prof. Eduard Rohan and his colleagues at the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. The discussions focused on homogenization-based computations and multiscale contact problems. The meeting was productive and set the stage for future collaborations.

We are very grateful for the great hospitality and look forward to the upcoming collaborations.
