simulation environment for the airport apron

This work aims to develop a simulation environment for modeling relevant operating concepts for automated apron operations. With the help of the simulation software AnyLogic, the existing airport infrastructure and the associated processes will be digitally mapped and a digital twin of an airport apron will be created.

The infrastructure modeling is based on publicly available data from Cologne/Bonn Airport, which is to be transferred to the simulation environment. Exemplary processes are integrated on this basis to validate the functionality of the AnyLogic modules.

This includes in particular:

• the development of a basic turnaround logic and
• the modeling of an operating concept for the use of taxiways and runways.

Finally, a real operating day is to be simulated and analyzed in the created simulation environment to identify optimization potential.
