IMCS on tour at the 95th GAMM Annual Meeting in Poznań

14 April 2025

Once again this year, IMCS took part in the traditionally annual GAMM Conference. The 95th edition of the event was held from April 7 to 11, 2025, in Poznań, the capital of the Greater Poland region.

The trip was well worth it in every respect: The extensive scientific program offered fascinating insights into current research topics, and the numerous social activities were equally convincing. We especially appreciated the opportunity to engage in a lively exchange with our partner university from Hamburg. Colleagues from the Chair of Numerical Mathematics, led by Prof. Markus Bause, were also in attendance. Their research and teaching interests align closely with those of our institute, which made the scientific exchange particularly enriching.

Of course, we also contributed actively to the program:
– Max Firmbach presented his work in the Scientific Computing section on"Smoothed aggregation algebraic multigrid for problems with heterogeneous and anisotropic material behavior"
– Philipp Zilk spoke in the Waves & Acoustics section on the topic "Can one hear the shape of a crack in a drum? – An analytical and data-based approach"
– Marco Mattuschka from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) gave a talk in the Optimisation of Differential Equations section on "Goal-oriented optimal sensor placement for PDE-constrained inverse problems"

We sincerely thank the conference organizers for the excellent execution of the event, as well as the section chairs for their great commitment. We are already looking forward to the next GAMM meeting – and to reconnecting with our academic colleagues and continuing our interdisciplinary exchange!
