History and expertise
Within the Institute of Space Technology and Space Applications (ISTA), the Navigation department is headed by Prof. Pany. Research and teaching cover the following topics: global satellite navigation systems, precise positioning, inertial navigation, terrestrial radio navigation and the targeted jamming and deception of navigation signals. The institute has been in existence since 1983 and makes significant contributions to the European Galileo System. The Munich Satellite Navigation Summit, the NAVITEC conference (ESA/IEEE) and the IEEE/ION-PLANS conference are co-organized by the institute.
