Focus on Interactive Sessions

1 August 2024

We are pleased to announce that the CCEW Symposium 2024, the fourth event in the series organized by the Center for Crisis Early Warning (CCEW), will take place on September 19-20, 2024, at the UniCasino of the Bundeswehr University Munich. Under the theme Predictive Synergies: Crisis Early Warning & Foresight, the Center offers a comprehensive platform to explore the topic of crisis early warning in all its facets.

Conflict Recognition and Prevention

The interactive sessions on Day two address the recurring challenge of armed conflicts, known for their profound humanitarian and socio-economic impacts. Conflict data reveals that past conflicts often resurface, involving similar issues and often new actors and alliances.

Machine Learning and Scenario Methods

Participants will explore the use of machine learning models to predict conflict patterns, while scenario methods will investigate alternative futures and systemic risks. This combination enables stakeholders to anticipate and address potential conflict hotspots more effectively.

Focus on Inactive Conflicts

Particular attention will be given to inactive conflicts in Kosovo, India, and the Central African Republic, where the risk of renewed violence is latent. These contexts are ideal for risk and resilience analyses in conflict prevention. The interactive sessions include plenary discussions and working groups for these cases.

Registration and Information

A conference fee is required, and more information along with the preliminary program can be found here. Interested parties can registerby Monday, September 02, 2024.

We look forward to welcoming you to the CCEW Symposium 2024.
