After the attacks in Munich, Aschaffenburg, Magdeburg, Mannheim and Solingen, the impression has arisen that terrorist violence is on the rise, and that Islamist-motivated perpetrators are particularly responsible for this. The long article in the online magazine Krautreporter examines the question on the basis of six misconceptions about Islamist terrorism.
Alongside other researchers and employees from the field of prevention, Eva Herschinger explains in the article what motivates Islamist terrorism, what role discrimination plays and what possibilities exist for prevention. Herschinger emphasizes that the question of what people are looking for in extremist and terrorist ideologies should be at the heart of prevention.
