Satellite communications is a major research priority of the Institute of Information Technology at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich which we contribute to the SPACE Research Center. We attract financial support from various sponsors for many third-party funded projects and achieve relevant research results for more efficient, future-oriented, competitive and safe satellite transmission. Our research in the areas of signal processing, waveform design, signal monitoring and network integration is used for modern communications satellites.

The Munich Center for Space Communications and the Munich SpaceCom Labs at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich represent one of Germany’s largest and most versatile facilities for the realistic testing of hardware, technology and algorithms for communication with satellites or into space.

Our priorities in the field of satellite communications

  • innovative payload technologies for future military and civilian satellites
  • new methods for the detection, surveillance and analysis of satellite signals
  • protection of satellite communication against interference, reconnaissance and deception
  • integration of satellite communications into terrestrial networks for end-to-end communication
