Improving Road Safety

Despite major efforts and decreasing numbers of road fatalities, the number of lives lost in road traffic accidents still amounts to 3,265 (in 2018) per year. This means that an average of 9 people die every day.

Increasing road safety  is a complex and demanding endeavor, which means there is no one single approach that will achieve this goal. The Institute of Human Engineering has approached this issue mainly from the angle of improving road safety through user-friendly design and evaluations of technical systems.
