airbus.jpgIn the last week of September, the Ignaz Kögler Research Summer Camp 2024 took place in Ingolstadt, in which Sean Klein from the AI Lab also took part. In addition to interesting lectures on autonomous flying, urban air mobility (UAM), artificial intelligence and the use of sensor data, prototypes for camera-based trajectory prediction and for the safe autonomous landing of drones were also developed.

The visit to Airbus in Manching and the tour of the production lines of the German contribution to the Eurofighter project as well as the final assembly of the German Eurofighter jets also offered exciting insights.

We would like to thank the teams from Fraunhofer IVI and AININ as well as Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences and the Ingolstadt Science Excellence Foundation – Ignaz Kögler for making the event possible.

It was challenging to bring together all the players in the drone industry who have the ambition to strengthen European defence with their latest drone technologies: We enjoyed exchanging ideas with other researchers and developers and gaining insights into the experiences of end users.
