We introduce ourselves

The globe is not what it used to be.
As one of the key concepts in the social sciences, globalisation has changed radically in recent years. While in the late 20th century the term primarily referred to the transnationalisation of various economic processes, at the beginning of the 21st century it is increasingly associated with climate change and its diverse consequences – the Anthropocene. The most important task of the Sociology of Globalisation professorship at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Public Affairs at the Universityof the Bundeswehr Munich is to better understand the ongoing transformation of globalisation and its political effects – partly by keeping track theories of the Anthropocene and partly by empirically researching what could be called ‘the aftermaths of globalisation’.
