GNSS Spoofing detection using Measurements from multiple Smartphones

The basic principle of the activity is to develop a matlab tool which is capable of reading multiple GNSS raw measurement such as pseudorange, pseudorange rate, navigation message, accumulated delta range rate (carrier) , AGC, CNo  and Sensor files (accelerometer, magnetometer and gyroscope data) from multiple smartphones in the near vicinity. The spoofing detection using directional antenna is a time consuming and tedious task. The approach here is to use universally available, cheap hand held devices to detect spoofing. The dedicated matlab tool should be able to compare position, AGC, CNo and Accelerometer (GNSS and internal sensor) to detect an abrupt behavior in the presence of spoofing. Using the measurement from multiple device has the advantage of minimizing the false alarm caused by multipath or natural factor degrading the position of the smartphone.

The important steps for this thesis includes:

  • Understanding GNSS Raw Measurements
  • Perform measurement series
  • Implementing matlab tool for comparison of Measurements
  • Discussion and Documentation of Results
