ICONS – Innovative Concept for Navigation Signal in Space
The project is co-funded by the Universität der Bundeswehr München (UniBwM) and the Centre National d'Études Spatiales (CNES). It consists in providing a support to CNES for its activities on GNSS signals, including potential future Galileo/EGNOS signals. The two main objectives are to:
- Optimise GNSS signals based on BPSK and BOC waveform. Three different research axes are identified: CSK modulation, navigation message rate, and PRN code structure.
- Study new concepts of GNSS signals: define new modulations schemes, assess impact of potential additional SBAS signals, assess performances and constraints related to new GNSS signals in other frequency bands and their feasibility (including interoperability with existing systems).
