The President represents the University of the Bundeswehr Munich on a full-time basis. She is the Chairwoman of the Governance Committee and the Extended University Governance. The President implements the decisions of the Administrative Council, the Senate and the Extended University Governance and informs the university’s central bodies about all important matters concerning the university and its administration.
The Administrative Council of the University of the Bundeswehr Munich elected Professor Dr. mont. Dr.-Ing. habil. Eva-Maria Kern, MBA in May 2022. In agreement with the Bavarian State Minister of Science and the Arts, the Federal Minister of Defense then appointed her as the new president of the university for a period of six years. The Federal Cabinet approved her appointment at the end of November 2022.
Professor Dr.-Ing. habil. Eva-Maria Kern has been a member of the University of the Bundeswehr Munich for several years: In 2007, she was appointed Professor (W3) of Knowledge Management and Business Process Management at the Department of Economics and Management. From 2016 to 2018, Professor Dr.-Ing. habil. Eva-Maria Kern chaired the Senate, and from 2019 to 2022 she was Vice President for Research, Young Scientists and Sustainable Development. From 2020 to 2022, she held the office of Scientific Director and Spokesperson of the dtec.bw – Digitalization and Technology Research Center of the Bundeswehr.
