Welcome to our department. Here you will find an overview of the institutes of the Department of Electrical Power Systems and Information Technology (EIT) and useful information. Our German webiste gives a detailed insight into research and teaching, an outline of the profession of an electrical engineer and an overview of the programs offered.
The department’s institutes conduct both basic research and application-oriented research and development. Students are involved in research and development projects by the work they do on term papers and bachelor and master theses. The EIT department offers both a bachelor program (graduation as a Bachelor of Science, BSc) and a master program (graduation as a Master of Science, MSc) in Electrical Power Systems and information Technology. The bachelor program is primarily designed to convey general knowledge on sciences and specific knowledge on electrical engineering, whereas the subsequent master program is a specialization in energy engineering or information technology. For students with a particular interest in mathematics in addition to electrical engineering and information technology, we offer programs in mathematical engineering.

Electrical engineers play a key role in solving fundamental problems such as the provision of a sustainable energy supply in the future, the creation of secure global communication networks, the satisfaction of the increasing requirement for mobility, the maintenance of a high quality of life in old age, and many more. The fields in which electrical engineers work therefore range from research and development, planning, project planning and project management, design, production, assembly and commissioning, service, measurement, testing and quality control to sales and marketing.
Electrical engineers are also frequently found in management and executive positions. The profession of engineers in electrical engineering and information technology therefore calls as much for creativity and self-fulfillment in their fields as it does the ability to think and act rationally.
