Prof. Dr. Andrea Schaller

has been Professor of Health, Workplace Health Promotion and Prevention at the Department of Human Sciences since April 2023.

In her research and teaching, Prof. Schaller focuses on the field of physical activity-related health sciences. She studied public health at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (with a focus on epidemiology) and sports science at the German Sport University Cologne (with a focus on prevention and rehabilitation). She has worked as a sports therapist in a rehabilitation center for several years before she received her PhD in 2009 on the implementation of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) in orthopedic rehabilitation. From 2016 to 2018, she was professor of health management at IST University of Applied Sciences and then professor of activity-related prevention research at the German Sport University Cologne until 2023.

In her research, Prof. Schaller is particularly concerned with the development and evaluation of complex interventions for evidence development in workplace health promotion (WHP). She also conducts research in the field of physical activity-related health services research.

Prof. Dr. Schaller has extensive experience as a project leader of various third-party funded research projects in health promotion and rehabilitation. She is the author of numerous peer-reviewed articles in national and international journals.
