One Year "Usable Security and Privacy" Group

Almost a year ago, starting 1st May 2018, Florian Alt and Ken Pfeuffer started building up the Usable Security and Privacy Group at the Bundeswehr University, Munich. Today, 12 researchers (3 post-docs, 6 PhD students, 3 student assistants and interns) work on topics at the intersetion of Human-Computer Interaction and IT security.
Some hightlights from the first year:
- We hosted the 17th International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia (MUM 2018) at the GUC with Prof. Dr. Florian Alt being a General Co-Chair and Dr. Yomna Abdelrahman being the Local Arrangements Chair.
- We organized the first UIST School at the Hasso-Plattner-Institute in Potsdam / Berlin on "Moving Interaction Closer to the Body".
- We set up the BehaVR lab in which we investigate how people behave in security-critical environments and design novel security concepts.
- We established a teaching module on "Usable Securit and Privacy" in the Cyber Security master program of the Bundeswehr University.
- We published 29 papers, including an Honorable Mention Award at MobileHCI 2018
