Exploring the World, Society and Politics

The Department of Political and Social Sciences is a research-oriented department. Its scientists work interdisciplinary on theoretical, normative, methodological and empirical questions and thus enable a deeper understanding of socially relevant questions. The department is one of the university's leading divisions with regard to publication activities and it is actively involved in the raising of third-party funding.

Research Cooperations

The Department of Political and Social Sciences is a leading partner in the university research institute RISK. Professor Dr. Wolfgang Bonß is one of the institute’s two spokespersons. Through research projects and other activities, numerous scientists of our department contribute to RISK's work, especially with regard to risk, security and conflict research.
