The issues of science and technology typically studied by the professorship in the area of intelligent sensor systems require solutions in terms of both hardware and software. Specific constructive and electronic implementations often need to be designed first. These then have to be complemented with algorithms that are imbedded into the hardware or run on external computers. Networking aspects also often have to be considered, be it locally or in cloud-based architectures. The solutions are used in a wide variety of areas, including mechanical engineering, process engineering, IT, aviation, transportation, and defense engineering. Interdisciplinary thinking is thus second nature to us and we draw from several institutes and departments to tailor teams to every project.
