Data-based optimization of complex systems – prescriptive analytics capability
The Professorship of Operations Research focuses on data-based optimization in complex systems and experimental environments, based on data generated by sensors and complex sensor networks. Our research increasingly takes a prescriptive approach to studying and analyzing the placement of these sensors, the handling of error rates and the consideration of intentional interferences (interdiction operations/complex threats).
The experiments we oversee increasingly integrate learning-based processes, methods of artificial intelligence and especially online algorithms into the conceptual design and analysis of sensor networks and experimental environments. They describe scenarios related to maritime safety, complex transport routes and supply chains as well as medical care in general.
Professor Pickl works closely together with the Junior Professorship of Prescriptive Analytics.
