The INDOR Research Initiative aims to combine and integrate interdisciplinary perspectives on the topic of individuals and organizations in a digitalized society. The central objective is therefore to further integrate the relevant research beyond the faculties involved. Joint research interests will be synergistically pooled so that research ideas and projects can be developed and worked on together.

The various challenges that arise for individuals within organizations as well as for organizations themselves, which are in turn shaped by their individual members, serve as the starting point of this endeavour. These challenges include learning, knowledge transfer, career and development, communication and cooperation as well as leadership and coordination. Shaping the relationship between the individual and organization is seen as a cross-sectional task for all members and leaders of every organization. The handling and scientific observation of this cross-sectional task profit considerably from a range of scientific perspectives. This cooperation is the basis for the successful study and highlighting of the many different ways in which seemingly very different subjects interact. Our research tries to answer a number of questions:

  • How can organizations become more attractive to potential employees in times of skills shortage?
  • What role do gender and diversity in the workplace play for individuals and organizations?
  • How can organizations support and maintain the health of their employees?
  • How can organizations handle conflict in a constructive manner?
  • How can enterprises generate innovations?
  • How can individual and organizational skills and abilities be developed?
  • How will digitalization change the workplace and leadership?
  • How do individuals succeed in new forms of organization?
  • How do employees and leaders interact with new technologies and applications of artificial intelligence?

Research projects are carried out as individual initiatives and are united in their common perspective on the interaction of individuals and organizations. All projects aim to contribute to social developments and to secure and improve the innovation location. The research initiative also generates ideas that are incorporated into teaching, thus fostering among students an understanding of the complex nature of the interactions between individuals and the organizations. Such understanding is especially pertinent because said interaction is also an important issue for officers as future leaders in a complex organization.
