The Current Doctoral Degree Regulations
The doctoral degree regulations (“PromO”) of the University of the Bundeswehr Munich from April 2023 give you three options for publishing your dissertation:
- publish it electronically on AtheneForschung
- publish it via a commercial publisher, depositing five copies at the Examination Office (“Prüfungsamt”)
- submit 20 copies of it in book or photo print to the Examination Office
For all three options, ensure that the title page complies with the requirements of Annex 5 of the PromO from April 2023.
If you want to publish your dissertation electronically choosing the first option, proceed as follows:
- Upload your dissertation to AtheneForschung as a PDF file (preferably in PDF/A format), using the following link: https://athene-forschung.unibw.de/publish/diss_neu/start
- Additionally, submit the following documents to the Examination Office:
- one printed copy (German paper sizes DIN A4 or DIN A5, bound, using aging resistant, wood- and acid-free paper)
- the licence conditions of the University of the Bundeswehr Munich for publication on AtheneForschung, completed and signed by you
Older Doctoral Degree Regulations
In case you earned your doctorate according to older doctoral degree regulations (i.e. “PromO Februar 2012” or “PromO November 2000”), please note the following:
The title page must comply with either Annex 7 of the PromO November 2000 or Annex 4 of the PromO of February 2012, in both the printed and the electronic version.
Upload your dissertation to AtheneForschung as a PDF file (preferably in PDF/A format), using the same link as above: https://athene-forschung.unibw.de/publish/diss_neu/start

- three printed copies of your dissertation (at least German paper size DIN A5, permanent binding)
