Dr Richard Budd is a Lecturer in Higher Education at the University of Lancaster. His chief research interests relate to the nature of higher education as an institution, the ways that universities mediate policy, and how students' experiences vary between and within countries. He is currently undertaking an SRHE-funded study which explores how students from different social groups perceive and experience their position within universities: socially, organisationally, and geographically. He has recently completed a project examining the variegated effects of social science doctoral training policy in the UK.
