Interaction of high performance computing and 3D printing

History and Overview

The laboratory has existed here in Neubiberg since the founding of the university. Right from the start, it was always equipped with the latest computer technology and powerful software. From the first Siemens process computers in 1974 to today's HPC Linux cluster, the laboratory has enabled the numerical investigation of complex phenomena in structural mechanics.

The laboratory's high-performance computer architecture and simulation software are constantly being further developed and expanded. In recent years, they have been supplemented with the installation of a high-quality set of experimental and measuring devices. The laboratory has had its own 3D printers since 2020, which enable diverse research in the field of structural mechanics of 3D-printed components. The laboratory supports both the research activities and the teaching that take place at the Chair of Structural Analysis. This page gives you an overview of the technical equipment in our laboratory.
