In the beginning of the master’s program the students select four compulsory elective modules from the teaching and subject areas according to their own interests. Any of these modules is followed by a consecutive second compulsory elective module, so that every student may assemble by her/his choice an individual profile building with four thematic emphases, respectively. In the center of interest in the first and second subject-specific trimester of the master’s program are theoretical and empirical reflections in the fields of Adult Education and Organizational Education, Educational Research and Media Education and Learning and Teaching with Media as well as Intercultural Education and Intercultural Communication and Conflict Research, whereby philosophical, pedagogical, sociological and/or psychological perspectives are taken in accordance to the participating teaching and subject area.

In the third and fourth subject-specific trimester the students are given the opportunity to deepen their knowledge gained in the first both subject-specific trimesters of the master’s program by project-orientated or researching means, in turn in four from ten compulsory elective modules. In study projects, exemplary individual projects in the fields of Intercultural, Media and Adult Education are autonomously being dealt with and worked on, whereby interdisciplinary relations between the various teaching and subject areas can and shall be set up.

Furthermore, a training course from the studium plus program has to be passed. The fourth and fifth subject-specific trimester is dedicated to the work on the master’s thesis. The normal amount of time allotted for its completion is five months.
