Protecting water and the environment, at the same time securing sustainable use and countering the dangers arising from extreme natural events, requires river basin management with integrated water, soil and land management as well as a wide range of technical, operational and organizational measures. Two professors represent this area, including the scientific and technical fundamentals in teaching and research.
Teaching
Hydromechanics, telescopic pipelines, river engineering, landscape hydraulic engineering, dams, traffic water engineering, energy management, propagation processes, sediment transport, groundwater flow, quantitative and qualitative hydrology, water management, management of extreme discharges, water and land resource management, soil and erosion protection, water supply, wastewater disposal, wastewater treatment, air pollution control, advanced wastewater treatment, water chemistry and water biology, sewage sludge treatment, industrial wastewater treatment, waste treatment and disposal.
Research
Hydraulic and morphological studies and model tests, measurements in nature, near-natural river engineering, development of multi-dimensional hydraulic-morphological models, sediment management, special structures, integrated river basin management, precipitation-drainage models, flood prediction, regionalization in hydrology, water balance models, erosion models, mass transport models, economic feasibility studies of sewerage channels and water supply systems.
